Red Sox Hit Four Home Runs Off Scherzer

The New York Mets lost to the Boston Red Sox, 8-6, in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday. The Mets have now lost two straight games and are 5-7 in their last 12 games.

The Red Sox jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning off Mets starter Max Scherzer. Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez each hit a two-run home run.

The Mets came back to tie the game in the third inning on a two-run home run by Pete Alonso and a RBI single by Mark Canha. However, the Red Sox regained the lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Bobby Dalbec.

The Mets tied the game again in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Brandon Nimmo. However, the Red Sox took the lead for good in the seventh inning on a two-run home run by Trevor Story.

Mets reliever Seth Lugo allowed two runs on three hits in the seventh inning.

The Mets had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning, but they stranded the bases loaded.

With the loss, the Mets are now 51-44 on the season. They will face the Red Sox again on Monday in the final game of the series.
